We have planned two outings. The First of these is a guided tour of Fort Frederica, the site of James Oglethorpe’s Colony (est 1736). This trip is scheduled Thursday, Februrary 24th at 3:30, and I assume that many of us will be on hand and want to attend; the second outing is on the last evening of the conference, Saturday night (February 26th); we will go to Bennies Red Barn—a Celebrated Steakhouse and Entertainment Venue on the Island. Some of us, however, may not be on hand to attend. If you know you will be attending, or if you Hope or Suspect that you will, please check the appropriate box on the REGISTRATION FORM. This will help us better address Transportation needs.

If you are not planning to rent a car, and seek shuttle services from and to Jacksonville International Airport, you must notify either The King and Prince Hotel of your travel requirements or Express Shuttle (not to be confused with Gator City Taxi) well in advance of your arrival. You may reach Express Shuttle Services in Jacksonville Airport at 1-800-394-0116 or email your travel/flight information directly to Bob Glaeser rwglaeser@earthlink.net Please include your flight and arrival times and identify yourself as a member of the SCSECS party. He will do his best to coordinate trips to the island. Express Shuttle requires a minimum of 100 dollars each way, and $15 for each additional passenger beyond four persons. Upon arriving at the airport, look for the Express Shuttle booth (again--not Gator City Taxi) directly across from Baggage Claim, Pole Number Four. A placard reading SCSECS should be posted.
Another carrier, Max Transport, also services St Simons Island, Brunswick, Savannah, and Jacksonville. This is the service used most frequently by the King & Prince Hotel. It will be important to give them your travel requirements well ahead of your arrival/departure. Reservations may be made by telephone, (912) 634-7749, or on their website, http://www.maxtransportcompany.com/.
