HOTEL AND TRAVEL INFORMATION - SCSECS 2010
The conference will be held at the University Park Marriott on the University of Utah campus: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/slcup-salt-lake-city-marriott-university-park/. The conference room rate is $99+tax, single or double, and $119+tax for a junior suite. These rates are firm until February 1. Reservations can be made at (801) 581-1000. Please indicate that you are attending the SCSECS conference when making your reservation.
The hotel offers shuttle service to the TRAX station a few blocks away. The free U of U campus shuttle stops at the hotel front door, and a UTA bus line has a stop half a block away.
Shuttle service to and from the Salt Lake International Airport is available from XPRESS SHUTTLE (801-596-7274 or 800-397-0773) at $12 per rider. Taxi service is available from Yellow Cab (801-521-2100) at about $28 for one to four people. The rate may vary a bit depending on traffic conditions.
The Pioneer Memorial Theatre (professional) at the U of U will be presenting Twelve Angry Men February 12 to 27.
Ballet West and the Utah Opera will not be performing during our conference.
The Utah Jazz will be playing Charlotte on Wednesday (the 24th), and Houston on Saturday (the 27th).
The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown SLC has not yet released its 2009-2010 schedule, but with the many dance, musical, and theatre groups home-based there, I'm sure there'll be some nice offerings.
