A dialogue is a conversation between at least two people which has been recorded. Lucian took Plato's dialogues and jazzed them up (as we would say today). He impermeated them with satire. Hence, we have satirical dialogue.

As you will see when reading about Lucian, he was not considered to be a great intellectual. He used irony and comedy to bring about a new type of dialogue. The Lucianic satirical dialogue was mimicked for many years to come. No one, however, could create anything as great as Lucian.
